Treatment of Benign Positional Vertigo
The Dix-Hallpike test is performed and the patient remains in the terminal position (position A, above) until the vertigo has subsided. The head is then rotated gently to position B, above, and then the patient is further rotated to the face-down position shown in C, above. With the head kept turned toward the left shoulder, the patient finally sits up into position D. The patient should remain in each position for about 10 seconds.
